Well done to the 31 secondary students who competed at the Division Athletics Championships in Ouyen on Wednesday. Windy conditions made throwing events difficult, however it was a perfect day for competing. There were some excellent individual performances with the team coming away with over 50 first, second and third placings. Tyrrell teams also cleaned up in the relay events, winning the 16 Girls and 14, 16 and 18-20 Boys relays and finishing second in 14 girls and 14 boys relays.
Congratulations to Dayna McKenzie who won the 16 Girls Age Champion and Dude Kelly equal 18-20 Boys Champion.
It was great to see the team spirit on display with Tyrrell students lining the track to support their team- mates. Dayna, Amber, Jett and Dude were the Sports Captains for the day and should be commended for their organisation and support of the students which ensured everyone was ready for their events.
Thank you to Michelle Lonergan and Ouyen P12 College for all their work in organising and running the event. Thank you to Jess Cova and Jacquie Borlase for attending the event, running a field event and supporting the students.
The next level of competition is the Regional Championships in Bendigo in week 1 of Term 4. Seventeen students have qualified for this event. Information will be provided this week.
