The 2024 Year 9 Alpine School for Student Leadership students hosted an awesome Community Fun Day on Friday night October 11 at Sea Lake Neighbourhood House, Carinya. The seven students have met, planned, organised, sourced funding and problem solved over the past two months to put on a fun and inclusive event for their community as part of their leadership camp. Just on 200 people attended to try and stay atop the mechanical bull, jump on the bouncy castle, go down the slide, roll and bump into each other in the bubble bash/soccer, pet all the animals from the zoo, ride the ponies, play on the slot racing cars, enjoy an ice cream and BBQ tea, listen to some expert emergency advice from both the CFA and Ambulance Victoria, and finishing off with a movie. It is fantastic to see Carinya being utilised again and the students have played a major role in helping to clean it all up and make it presentable for community activities and events. Congratulations to the Alpine students for putting on such a great event for our community and showcasing the skills you have gained this year. A massive thank you to all who helped out especially the organisations who provided funding or equipment to make this event accessible to everyone – the Woomelang Lions Club, Tyrrell College, Advance Sea Lake’s Riordan Community Chest , Safer Together Towns, Rising Waters Emerging Selves, Grainflow and Sea Lake Neighbourhood House. And lastly a big thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event!
