Students in Year 7 had a jammed packed week during 1 Up Week in Science, Art and Home Economics. In Science students completed various scientific experiments including a Gummy Bear Osmosis Practical where the length and mass of the gummy bear was measured and were submerged in various solutions. Students were going to measure the change in size, however, unfortunately the gummy bears completely dissolved by the time students got to check them. Students also investigated Non-Newtonian fluids by making Oobleck. Students had a lot of fun testing out the coloured slime like material, observing that it behaved as a solid as well as a liquid. They were also kindly invited to watch a Science demonstration on the oval where pure sodium was placed in water resulting in a loud explosion. We are hoping this has sparked the interested of our young Scientists coming into Secondary School next year.
