Harmony Day

Tyrrell College celebrated Harmony Day on Tuesday March 19 with a Harmony Day Luncheon, where we centered on the message that “Everyone belongs”, reinforcing the importance of inclusiveness to all Australians.  Students and staff came to school dressed in orange to show their support and were eager for lunchtime to come around.

During Harmony Week, there are several events and activities held to bring people from different cultures together. These activities include multicultural food festivals, cultural performances, art exhibitions and workshops. Participating in these events helps children to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diverse communities that make up Australia. Our Harmony Day Luncheon, which was organised by the Year 12 VCE VM PDS/WRS students, was celebrated by staff and parents providing a wonderful array of dishes from all over the world. These dishes were Italian (pasta), Mexican (rice), Aussie (party pies), American (pulled pork sliders) Philippines (panti) Indian (butter chicken) and Thai (chicken green curry).
