The Year 10 Students attended the Charlton Pre-Driver Education Centre, also known as CHARTSEC, for an overnight stay on Monday August 19. This program gives the students real world driving experience in cars under the guidance of qualified driving instructors. Students, in groups, share a car with half in the car and the other half in the theory room for approximately 45 minutes, then the groups swap over. Whilst in the car students learn correct adjustments of all controls, steering techniques, correct road positioning, turns, correct roundabout usage, reversing, angle and parallel parking, U turns, three point turns, hill starts, gear changing and overtaking as well as the vital importance of having good observation at all times when driving. A wonderful effort by all the Year 10s who participated. A big thank you to Mr Griffiths and Carol Elliot for attending with the students.
